SPECIAL MARKET IN AUGUST
On August 24th we're having a "Best of British Summer" market in Glossop and it promises to be an excellent day. As well as a host of stalls for you to browse and buy from there will be non-stop, all day entertainment from the lovely ladies of The Moot. I spoke with our Market Superintendent this morning and she has assured me that plans are underway to make this a day to remember for the whole family. We'll be telling you more about this event closer to the date and introducing you to the traders who will be standing this special market so check back regularly for up to the minute news.

NATURAL INSPECT REPELLENT
Whilst the sunshine is very welcome, the insects that this weather attracts aren't! I've been scouring the web for a cheap and easy, natural insect repellent that can be made at home for very little cost . This one looks extremely good and I have tried it out myself and it works well. It is also, animal, baby and child friendly too.
Natural Insect Repellent Ingredients
Different insects are repelled by different chemicals, so you'll get a more effective repellent if you combine a few different insect-repelling natural oils. If you are making large amounts of insect repellent, a good rule of thumb is to mix the repellent so it's 5-10% essential oil, so mix 1 part essential oil with 10-20 parts carrier oil or alcohol. For a smaller batch use:- 10-25 drops (total) of essential oils
- 2 tablespoons of a carrier oil or alcohol
- cinnamon oil (mosquitoes)
- lemon eucalyptus or regular eucalyptus oil (mosquitoes, ticks, and lice)
- citronella oil (mosquitoes and biting flies)
- castor oil (mosquitoes)
- orange oil (fleas)
- rose geranium (ticks and lice)
- olive oil
- sunflower oil
- any other cooking oil
- witch hazel
- vodka
Natural Insect Repellent Recipe
Mix the essential oil with the carrier oil or alcohol. Rub or spray the natural insect repellent onto skin or clothing, using care to avoid the sensitive eye area. You'll need to re-apply the natural product after about an hour or after swimming or exercise. Unused natural insect repellent may be stored in a dark bottle, away from heat or sunlight. If you wish, you may combine the oil with aloe vera gel to change the consistency of the product.Wednesday, 10 July 2013

OFF THE RAILS OPENS TOMORROW
Tomorrow sees the opening of a new stall in our Market Hall here in Glossop. It's called Off the Rails and sells chain store curtains, pillow, duvets and other bed linen at "Crazy Prices". It's great to see another small business set up in the Market Complex and this one is especially welcome as it is filling a gap in the market as there is nowhere else in Glossop that you can buy quality, low priced bed linen or curtains unless you want to spend silly money at places like Tesco!
Welcome on board Lesley, it's great to have you as one of traders at Glossop Market complex. We hope you have a great opening day.

MINI MUGGLES - FROM CONCEPT TO OPENING DAY
We have a new stall in the Market Hall called Mini Muggles. It isn't often that we get the chance to share with you how much work goes into opening a new stall so we are very lucky that the new stall holder Cat Muggleton has allowed us to use the photographs she took of the stall at every stage of it's transformation from empty stall to opening day. We're sure you will agree that she has done a fantastic job.
We asked Cat to tell us a little bit about herself and her new stall and this is what she said:-
"I have only recently moved to Glossop and having 3 young children of my own, I was stunned at the lack of clothes that are on offer locally. (Everybody seems to be wearing Next/Tesco) This inspired me to open a stall on the Indoor Market.
I want to bring expensive and stylish clothing to Glossop at a fair and competitive price, making sure the customers get a good deal every time.
At the minute I only stock age 0-6 years boys and girls with some accessories, however i have a view to stock up to age 12 in the future. (Just testing the waters..)
I also stock items sold at the former "Hand made 4u" stall (Ruth Muggleton is my Mother-in-law)
There was a lot of hard work put into getting my stall looking the way it does now, but looking back it was all worth the while. I would urge anyone to get a stall, hopefully we can get Glossop market looking beautiful."
