CHURROS TIME TODAY AT GLOSSOP OUTDOOR MARKET

Jean from the Lonely Scone will be at Glossop Outdoor Market today cooking  a selection of pancakes and she will also have a selection of her tasty scones on sale too.

BURST WATER MAIN CLOSES HIGH STREET

A burst water main in High Street West has meant that the road has been closed off which has badly affected local shops and both the indoor and outdoor markets.  Traders are reporting vastly reduced footfall since the road has been closed for repairs and last Saturday saw an all time low in the number of customers shopping at the market.

As regular readers of our blog will know, we have had Eva Scott with us on work experience for the last few weeks and she has made a great impression on all of the traders on the outdoor market with her willingness to try her hand at anything.

Eva has now finished her work experience with us and has decided that she is going to become a regular trader at Glossop Outdoor Market.  Within the next few weeks she hopes to set up her own stall selling cosmetics and we are all very pleased that she will be joining us on the market.  We'll keep you updated on when she opens but in the meantime she will still be coming down and helping Brian from Brians Bargains who has taken our Eva under his wing!

Traders at Glossop Outdoor Market remained open and smiling despite torrential rain and thunderstorms today.  Customers were a bit thin on the ground but the traders made the most of the weather and manned the stalls with a smile as usual for the few brave souls who came to shop in the worst mid summer storm of the year.

GLOSSOP OUTDOOR MARKET SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE

We need your help.  We are trying to help stop a takeover bid by the government for West Coast Trains and if you sign the petition which you can access here  epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/37180  and enough signatures are collected this takeover bid will have to be discussed in the house of  commons.  Many people throughout the country who work for Virgin Trains could lose their jobs if this takeover takes place as the company who want to take over West Coast Trains are not obliged to keep any of the current employees on after an initial 6 month period.
