NEWS FROM GLOSSOP OUTDOOR MARKET

Eva & Beth

As many of our regular followers will know, we've had a young lady called Eva with us at the market on work experience.  In fact Eva has loved it so much that she is now looking into getting a grant and setting up her own stall selling cosmetics.

I received a telephone call yesterday from Roy Holland of The National Market Traders Federation to ask if he could set up a meeting and come to the market to interview Eva and myself and take photographs for their national publication Market Times.  It turns out that I was the first person to apply to join this national scheme which was set up between the NMTF and Jobcentre Plus to offer young people work experience placements in our markets.  Since then letters have been sent to every NMTF member asking them to join in with the scheme and so far they have received over 100 replies from traders who are interested in taking part.  What a great opportunity this is to encourage young people to become the market traders of tomorrow and inject new life into the markets!
