BEHIND THE SCENES

There are no pictures with this post because all of the people who worked hard for weeks in setting up this event would prefer not to be shown.  This however doesn't stop the Glossop Outdoor Market traders from wanting to acknowledge all of the hard work that they have put in to making the Jubilee Market such a big success.

Our thanks go to our Market Caretaker, DAVE SHAW for his relentless hard work in keeping our market looking good, getting up at the crack of dawn to greet the High Peak Radio Road Show, all of his leg work in putting up posters around the town, putting up and taking down the marquee, decorating all of the market complex with bunting and flags. erecting and dismantling the boards on the stalls and so much more.  All of this was done with a smile and I'm still left wondering how Dave managed to be in so many different places at one time!  Thank you Dave, without your unstinting hard work non of this would have been possible.

Our thanks also go to Kay Gore, our Market Superintendent for all that she did for us.  Kay organised the bands, booked casual stallholders, got together a massive treasure hunt for the children, drew up all the stall plans and coordinated the running of the entertainment and also did hundreds of other essential things to ensure that they day was a success.  Kay not only oversaw the celebrations at Glossop Outdoor Market she also did the same for the traders at Buxton Market and unfortunately couldn't be with us on the day as she had to be in Buxton to make sure that things ran smoothly there.  Thanks Kay, we know you haven't been with us long but we are confident in saying that your first big event was a great success.

Thanks go to David Murrell, Kay's boss for calming fraught organisers, supplying us with some wonderful prizes for the free raffle and having faith in us all that we could do this on behalf of High Peak Council.  Thanks David, I'm sure you did an awful lot more too but, as so often happens, those behind the scenes just quietly get on with it and don't get the recognition they deserve.

Thanks to Terry Crawford, Davids boss who organised the fairground rides, got us the bunting, did the advertising and no doubt a lot more that he didn't tell us about.  Thanks Terry, you are helping us all to make Glossop Outdoor Market a great place to shop and we know you'll continue working relentlessly on our behalf.

Lastly, my personal thanks go to the traders on Glossop Outdoor Market for doing everything they could to make this such a special day for us all.  I would also like to thank them for crediting me for the work I did behind the scenes in my role as Vice-Chairman of the Glossop Market Traders Committee.  I had a wonderful time both helping to organise and on the day itself and I'm glad that you all had a great day's trading yesterday.

If there's anyone I've missed off, I apologise.  Thanks everyone.
